For generations since the development of technology, celebrities and the media has become a big part of the world, there are numerous news about celebrities everywhere in the ever developing media. So my argument is that celebrities and the media do influence everybody and our everyday living in positive and negative ways, e.g from the clothes we wear, the way we talk to our hair do, etc, etc.
So in this blog i will discuss who really run the world. The first three arguments are on how celebrities influence us personaly e.g the way we feel about ourselves, our weight, or how we look, etc.
And the fourth one on how the media plays a big part in celebrities influencing the world and to see that if this is continued by the media, what are some positive and negative effects it can have in our world.
Celebrities in the World
Wouldnt you love to be a celebrity, live in their world, be on covers of famous magazines, have so much money, have the glamorous life, I know i would. Celebritys have influenced the world in many ways from the fashion statements they have created, to the oral statements (e.g YOLO), to the way we style our hair and so on. We are influenced by celebritys sometimes knowing it and sometimes not.
There are celebrities who have positive impacts on the world such as donating and helping out charities and some who influence society negatively such as some celebrities turning to drugs, alcohol and partying, and famous musicians even singing/rapping about it and therefore influencing some people to look and act like them.
Why?
So why are we influenced by the celebrity life? Well, I think its because of the amount of celebrity content that has been dominated into the media, and the more celebrity content that becomes available to us the more we look at them to be inspired or to compare ourselves to them, such as Americas abc news who documented on Kim Kardashians wedding on what dress she was wearing, what shoes she wearing, how she was goin to do her hair, instead of documenting worldwide natural problems.
Body Image

Effects.
There are many effects and they are both negaive and positive. Some Positive effects are celebs like Oprah Winfrey and Angelina Jolie donating money to charities which can inspire people around the world to help out in global issues. But the negative effects outweigh the positives as it could affect the youner generations from their vulnerability and lack of maturity which could lead to young children looking up to celebs like Rihanna, Beyonce and want to be like them. Especially in their music clips were they sometimes wear hardly anything which leads to youngsters sexualising themselves, or they would want to look skinny like them and children shouldnt be worying about their weight at all but enjoying childhood. Such as this youtube video found of seven year olds wearing lengerie in their beyonce 'single ladies' dance.
Conclusion
In conclusion celebrity dominance in the world is big because that is the content that the media chooses to 'glamorize'. It can be dangerous for younger vulnerable society. It may not be too long when babies were playing with toys and now they are doing this.
So we should ask ourselves,
How much celebrity is too much celebrity?
great topic, are we just minions in the eyes of social media? wanting to be like the people we see on tv and in magazines?
ReplyDelete:) good stuff
Definitely agree on how much of an influence celebreties have, great read
ReplyDeleteThis topic affects everyone in the world, a celebritys influence is so much more stronger than our parents or anyone else. but people get inspired like for example Lady gaga and her outrageous fashion sense doesn't look as extreme as some people do that we see on the streets. I like how you wrote this with negative and positive affects. Well done
